It's Ozzfest and there's still room on the bandwagon for YOU!
When it comes to sports in Chicago, fans are more finicky than "Morris the Cat". Take the Chicago White Sox...less than an hour ago they beat the Detroit Tigers 4-2 to clinch the A.L. Central Division playoffs. It's the first time in five years for the guys in black and you would expect a lot of news coverage of South Sider's dancing in the streets, right? WRONG. Sure, things turned into a nail biter the past few weeks and it didn't look good for a while but, let's face it folks, this is probably the closest that this place will ever get to having a winning team, so what's up with the news? This story made the news earlier as a blurb, an asterisk, a footnote in the year of the SOX. Meanwhile, sports reporters are still swarming around the Cubs and Bears like flies around a pile of poop. I've come to the conclusion that Chicago doesn't know exactly how to treat a winner. It takes 10 years to sink in...or longer. People are still talking about the 1985 Bears and Michael Jordan's Bull's Championships like it happened yesterday. Do I think they'll go all the way? Hell no! They haven't been to the World Series since 1917 and they won't this year either, but it'll be close. These guys deserve some props. Now, I say, go to Target aor Kmart, or Walmart tonight. I'm sure they have a whole departments of SOX gear they're setting up right now. Forget the (bad news) Bears, the Scrubs, or Blackhawks. I'll give the Bulls a chance. I'll also give the SOX a chance to make it a few more weeks. May as well jump on the bandwagon and wear black, at least for a few weeks. Who else are you gonna root for?!
