Tonight is a special evening. In case you haven't heard, this is an event that occurs once every 60-72 years. Of course, I'm talking about the Global Median Time adjustment that we must make before 2:00 AM Monday morning. Our time is based on the Atomic Clock. Meanwhile, the GMT is configured by scientists as kind of a "backup plan". Our time zones are all of kilter. The last time this happened was actually longer than usual in 1928. In order to calibrate both the Atomic Clock and GMT, we must all push our clocks ahead 46 minutes before retiring for the night. At 2:00 AM both will be in sync with one another although we may experience a half hour or 45 minutes extra of sun tomorrow night. This is serious. If your elderly siblings are still alive, they may remember the last time it took place. Any questions? Visit ABC7 News in Chicago or WGN's websites or phone them to ask them to verify this information. I didn't believe it either but, everyone may be late for work as a result!
