AUTHOR: Dave Sypniewski DATE: Tuesday, March 14, 2006 ----- BODY: Unfortunately, I missed the 2006 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony the other day. I'm kind of sorry I did. They should have known from the start that there would be trouble when they received the profane letter from the remaining members of the Sex Pistols comparing them being inducted to "turning wine into urine". An award was supposed to be sent to them anyway which they responded again by letter saying that when it arrives, they will "smash it into a million bits". Next, enter Debbie Harry and Blondie. They were also inductees. I'm not sure why...I don't think they deserved it! Besides, Debbie kicked out all the members of the band years ago after they stopped dishing out the hits. So, it was a bit awkward when a former member took to the podium just as Debbie and her new band were about to perform a song. The guy turned and stared at Debbie and asked her who those guys up on stage backing her up where. "That's not Blondie. We are! I suppose you're going to add their names to the plaque tonight too eh? Well, Debbie, your real band deserves to be up there tonight with you!" Debbie Harry walked to the podium and said, "Those guys on stage over there ARE my real band, so get a life and move on!" More bridges get burned. She should have at least given the old band time for two or three songs with her. Have you heard anything from the current lineup? There won't be anymore awards for this group! Axl vs. Slash vs. Scott Weiland I had to laugh when I saw that Guns and Roses has a new greatest hits album that got dropped last Tuesday. Greatest Hits? They only made three albums when they were together! There's a lot of bad blood now between Axl and Slash, who along with Scott Weiland are two members of Velvet Revolver. Axl is stirring the pot now because Axl turned down on offer to re-join GNR. Axl and his current lineup are said to have just finished their first studio album since 1991 called, "Chinese Democracy" and they were hoping that Slash would drop kick Velvet Revolver and go on tour with them this summer. After hearing about this, Scott Weiland went on Axl's website to inquire why Axl is desperately seeking the services of Slash for a tour when, he wrote: "Remember a few years ago when GNR shocked the world by making an appearamce at the MTV Music Awards? A month later, you and your "band" went on a U.S. tour that fizzled out after four shows. Meanwhile, for everyone else that had tickets, they were left high and dry. When you go on tour again, don't you think that these people you motherf****** screwed last time won't be waiting in the parking lot to kick your ass when you get off your bus? You are nothing but a guy who once thought he was king. Now you have no court and you're nothing. As it stands, Axl hasn't responded, while Slash hasn't publicly said anything. What a bunch of dopes!
