They say that money is the root of all evil? In this case, it isn't evil and it's much more than a song off "Dark Side of The Moon." Money is what brought these old codgers together for another go at it. Boy, within the span of one month, one group called it quits while another one got back together for the first time since 1982. Yep, The Eagles have observed the ice melting in hell and have hung up the guitars once again waiting for the next deep freeze and hell to freeze over again. In the same month, we get word that Pink Floyd has buried the hatchet with singer/songwriter Roger Waters after 23 years of being in court and bickering back and forth about who owns the name and who owns the songs. The same thing happened with The Beatles after Lennon died and Yoko Ono pulled the same stunt. I've got to tell you, to see all these guys come together again is a victory in itself. Pink Floyd after Roger Waters left was watered down more than a Long Island Iced Tea at $1 mixed drink nights at SIU. They've only released two studio albums during that time, but to their credit, the've released a dozen or so "Live" recordings. Roger as a solo artist was pretty much a disaster. He also had only a couple studio albums, and the rest were about a dozen different variations of "The Wall" performed "Live." Now, the one deciding factor in getting these guys to play nice was the July 2nd Live Aid 8 concert I've talked about before. They join a long list of bands that are getting back together for a show, and if the fans love it, they'll record a new album and hit the road for a tour next year. Maybe they're ripping a page out of Motley Crue's book (who got booted off the Live Aid show by the way,) and just pretend to get along. When the show is over they talk to the press and start slinging mud at each other. Pink Floyd is one group that I might be interested in hearing after all these years. I wish I could say the same for one of my favorite groups, Queen. Freddie Mercury is dead. Paul Rodgers is Bad Company. These two are indeed an odd couple and have the nerve to still keep the same name! LA 8 I found out, will air July 2nd on MTV and VH1 from 12 to 8. It ain't gonna be the same without the nutty Michael Jackson...THAT'S the way I see it for today. Please note the new e-mail address you dorks!
