Free Dishes for everyone; gravy boats not included.
Here's the dish on a nutty new contest which could bring free satellite television to where YOU live...Believe it or not, Dish Netorks is looking for Anytown, USA to slap it's moniker on the water tower and temporarily rename the whole town. All residents would then recieve a whole year's worth of Dish Network. Now, if your town officials have nothing better to do, they may want to send for an entry form however, just make sure they have a magnifying glass to read all the small print because the contest rules will leave them feeling dizzy. Satellite TV and cable are virtually the same, and folks I know that have either one will tell you that regardless of how many hundreds of channels you get in your home, everyone's favorites are still the channels you can pull in with the old rabbit ears. Some of the things your Mayor must agree to do before slapping a stamp on that entry form: "Dish" has to be displayed everywhere around town. In other words, if you live in Butte, Montana you must be prepared to change the name on EVERYTHING including street signs, schools, City Hall letterheads, and all local government buildings and vehicles. All this hassle for a free year of Dish Network! I wonder how many entrants realize that this name change will be permanent. The folks over at Dish Network have the deck stacked and in their favor. What place has the funds to make drastic changes like this for a year and then switch back? Well, at least one town out there in Americana is already in the running. It's good to know that while everyone else is encouraging physical fitness, Dish Network is encouraging you to stay inside. Maybe some little town in Oregon will win. With all the trees out there nobody will be able to get the signal anyway. This type of gimmick is usually saved for dot coms who award cash money to people who get their websites name tattooed on their forehead or name their child "anyname.com" This however, this is a new one. The good news is, when the year is up you can use "The Dish" to play frisbee with your dog. THAT'S the way I see it!
