AUTHOR: Dave Sypniewski DATE: Sunday, July 17, 2005 ----- BODY: P. Diddy keeps churning out the wacky ideas while at the same time blowing his nose in $100 bills. Does this guy ever sleep? Someone from McDonald's phoned the guy along with Russell Simmons and Tommy Hilfiger. These three geniuses are putting their craniums together to come up with a new line of uniforms that they describe as "hip and trendy". Trendy? It's friggin' McDonald's! I must admit that Mickey D's hasn't exactly got the edge when it comes to fashion BUT, the whole idea here is that kids will be able to go to The Gap and pull one of these outfits off the rack to wear to school!

McDonald's has the reputation of being wishy-washy when it comes to following through on new ideas. Several months ago there was talk of eliminating Ronald...he's still here. They've also experimentedwith drive-ins, diners, The Discovery Zone and theme restaurants. Let's not forget the ever changing menu. Depending on what part of the U.S. you travel, at one time or another you could get soup, pizza, biscuits and gravy, sub sandwhiches and other items that came and went with little or no fanfare. Moving onwards towards the ugly polyester slacks and top, I've seen a wide variety of earthtones throughout the years that I suspect even a homeless person would toss into a steel drum and light fire to it to warm up on a chilly night. Not surprisingly, the only person out of the trio that has come forward and signed on for the project is P. Diddy. Simmons and Hilfiger insist they know nothing about the uniforms and haven't spoken to a soul. I don't know if this is for real or not, but if putting on hip hop clothes as a uniform lights a fire under the rear of at least one person at the front counter, I'm all for it. THAT'S the way I see it!
