AUTHOR: Dave Sypniewski DATE: Monday, April 18, 2005 ----- BODY: Artist's rendering shows how Abe Lincoln may have really looked! Posted by Hello Today was the official "Grand Re-Opening" of the new multi-million dollar "Abraham Lincoln Memorial Museum" in Springfield, Illinois. As I understand it, it took nearly two years and YOUR tax dollars to finish the job on the beautiful state of the art building and, if your like me, you'll never go out of your way to see it. Springfield is never anyone's destination spot...perhaps you'll stop on your way to someplace else. I've seen the preview for this. It looks a lot like that cheesy attraction at Disney World that when you're a kid, your parent's had to drag you into because it was BORING! With all the neat things to do, what kid wants to be at Disney to learn? Well, in Springfield, they have all that stuff there. I'm sure it would give anyone a case of the "heebie Jeebies" to be locked in there all night with all these robots. Anyway, while watching the preview, I have to admit, I did learn a thing or two about the ol' boy. The strangest thing I heard, was that Abe wore a toupee. Not a big deal however, it was red! No kidding! Who was the guy that sold him on that idea? I think of Abe and I think of everything in black and white. His hair and beard are always depicted as black. Why he would go with a red wig is beyond me. I checked out some websites to see if this was the truth. Indeed it was. Apparently, that's why Abe wore that stovepipe hat. The poor boy was to ashamed to take off his hat and show the world what someone talked him into doing! He must have really looked like a dope! The museum has a dummy of him with the red hair. I couldn't come across a photo of it however, I had to use my own imagination. Imagine that, the red hair and black beard and he was STILL probably more funnier than Carrot Top! When Abe was elected President he vowed to Illinoisians that he was going to return to live here again one day. I think that's when someone discovered he wasn't so honest about his hair. Abe hopped on the train to Washington. He never came back. And that's the way I see it! NOTE***I also learned from watching C-SPAN earlier this evening from a phone caller that Abe was a heavy marijuana smoker. The caller asked the curator why marijuana isn't legal today if most of Lincoln's best work was done while he was stoned? The caller was quickly hung up on and no answer was ever given. Nice eh? -------- Squealing Pig WORLDWIDE!: "Honest Abe" wasn't so honest about his hair!
